      [From User Tim]

We have been utilzing BWR for racing offshore in SoCal, mainly the MX races on a 33′ sportboat with a lot of success. Due to power limitations, laptops are a challenge. Heard about Win 8 tablets that run the full Windows OS. The Lenovo MiiX2 tablet for example has built-in GPS and 8″ screen, very power efficient but has high brightness display. Would like to see if BWR can be finetuned to support the internal (OS controlled) GPS.

There is no direct support for the win8 GPS interface, however you can check out Centrafuse Localizer for an app that will create a virtual COM port providing data (in NMEA0183 format) from the tablet GPS. Then you should be able to access that data via the instrument manager in Bluewater by opening that virtual COM port.
